Did the title intrigue you? Does it fit? Would you have picked this book up based upon the title?

Cover:

Did the cover intrigue you? Would you have picked this book up based upon the cover?

Story:

Did you like the story? Was it a great concept? Would you recommend it to friends?

Written Words:

Is this an author with a writing style you enjoy? Was it a pleasure to read or a pain-in-the-you-know-what to get through?

Characters:

Were the characters the heart of the story? Colourful? Believable? Well-developed?

The End:

The conclusion doesn’t have to be happy, but it should complete the novel well and be satisfying.

Books, Blood, and Baking

What kind of a writer would I be if I didn’t love books? I blog about the ones the LOL (Ladies on Literature) are reading and sometimes about my own. I’ve got a handful of novels collecting dust on my laptop, with plans to publish them.

Oddly enough, I don’t love blood (it makes me a little queasy) but I do like to write about it. My weekly health and humor column runs in the Kelowna Daily Courier and other newspapers. Read my blog for insight on what’s trending in health and medicine—out there—and at home, where I live with my ER physician husband, our border-collie X, and when they're home from university, our beautiful son and daughter.

Finally, I love to bake. Mostly cakes. Not fancy ones that require hours of delicate labor, but home-style cakes that beckon for thick layers of spatula-swirled icing. Here you’ll find musings on my makings in the kitchen (and somtimes just life) and some beater-licking good recipes from all the LOL.
